Keeping Up Appearances

Isaiah 3:16-26 describes not only how the women of Judah dressed -- with the finest clothes and jewelry, but also how they acted -- prideful and flirtatious.

The women of Judah chose to put more emphasis on their outer appearance than their relationship with God. They dressed to impress others and to be noticed. The women of Judah were so wrapped up in themselves that they were blinded to the needs of others.

There's nothing wrong with dressing up and looking good, but that shouldn't be our end goal. Our first priority should be making sure our hearts are clean. A pure heart will make a person beautiful from the inside out.  There is nothing more beautiful than a person who humbly serves others and loves them unconditionally.  Inner beauty like that will be obvious to everyone, and it will not fade with the passing of time.

Lord, Please cleanse my heart so that I may be beautiful from the inside out. Amen

  1. Amen. God looks on the heart, not on the outward appearance. We need to learn to do the same. Thank you for sharing.
